About The Awards

Innovation in Facilities Management Awards 2020 is one of the leading events applauding the achievements of the region’s facilities management professionals. The awards strive to recognise individual excellence, corporate strengths, projects, technology and innovation success. Companies are invited to nominate the people, projects, and initiatives of which they are most proud of, across 17 categories. Entries will be judged by an eminent jury of industry experts.

The awards presentation will happen at a gala dinner in a five-star venue –
a celebration which has proven to be a great social occasion and essential networking opportunity. Winners will receive a commemorative trophy, plus extensive print and online coverage of their success in Construction Business News ME. Industry Overview

UAE facility management market was valued at $ 13.8 billion in 2018 and is projected to grow at a CAGR of over 10% to reach $ 27 billion by 2024. Anticipated growth in the market can be attributed to booming commercial sector and increasing number of residential projects in the country. Dubai and Abu Dhabi, being the commercial hubs of the country, are witnessing boost in the real estate sector which is further increasing the demand for facility management across the country. Furthermore, rising integration of technologies in facility management services along with hosting of Expo 2020 Dubai is further anticipated to aid the growth of UAE facility management market over the next five years.

Entries for the Technology & Innovation in FM should answer the following questions in a total of no more than 500 words:

  • How has the initiative demonstrated FM best practice?
  • What techniques and technology have contributed to the initiative’s success?
  • Has the initiative been delivered within time and budget parameters? Explain.
  • What aspects of the initiative make it interesting or significant for the region?
The award for Health and Safety Initiative of the Year will go to the company, operating in the FM sector, which has delivered the best health and safety initiative in the GCC.
Entries for the Health and Safety Initiative of the Year should answer the following questions in a total of no more than 500 words:
  • What is the health and safety initiative?
  • How has the initiative contributed to the welfare of the work force?
  • How is the impact of the initiative measured?
  • What have been the practical benefits of the initiative?
The award for Sustainability Initiative of the Year will go to the company, operating in the FM sector, which has delivered the best sustainability initiative in the GCC. The winning initiative will make a positive contribution to the advance of environmental considerations in FM.
Entries for the Sustainability Initiative of the Year should answer the following questions in a total of no more than 500 words:
  • What is the sustainability initiative?
  • How has the sustainability initiative contributed to improving the GCC FM industry?
  • How is the impact of the sustainability initiative measured?
  • What have been the practical benefits of the sustainability initiative?
The award for Engineering Service of the Year will go to the company that demonstrates the best record of progress and service delivery by its respective Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing (MEP) division.
The winner of the award will be a company that has excelled in within its active MEP operations, developed and/or implemented the latest cutting-edge technologies and practices, as well continuing to advance the technical proficiency of their employees.
Entries for Engineering Service of the Year should answer the following questions in a total of no more than 500 words:
  • How has the company demonstrated its ability to deliver on projects?
  • How has the company contributed to a project’s success?
  • What has the company done to manage the professional development of its staff?
  • How has the company developed and/or implemented technologies and practices that have helped enhance MEP service delivery?

The award for Property Management Company of the Year will go to a PM firm or asset management firm that’s making rapid strides either through its own FM division, or via its outsourced FM operator.
Entries for the Property Management Company of the Year should answer the following questions in a total of no more than 500 words:
  • What are some of your outstanding achievements over the last 12 months?
  • Kindly detail how you have engaged FM companies?
  • What is the scope of work you outsource to FM companies?
  • Have you increased your business share in the leasing and renting space, give details.
  • What is the value of the assets you manage, give a rough break down (residential/commercial)?
The award for Cleaning Company of the Year will go to the company that can demonstrate the greatest impact it has had on a project or projects.
It will be a company that has excelled in providing or arranging cleaning services for a significant project and/or contract. Entries for the Cleaning Company of the Year should answer the following questions in a total of no more than 500 words:
  • How has the cleaning company demonstrated its organisational ability?
  • How has the cleaning company contributed to a project’s success?
  • What has the cleaning company done to boost operational performance?
  • What has the cleaning company done to manage its own professional development?
  • How has the cleaning company shown its commitment to the improvement of the environment with the FM industry?
The award for Sanitation & Waste Management Company of the Year will go to the company that can demonstrate the best record of progress and delivery for its clients, while maintaining an exemplary HSE record and showing signs of commercial strength and growth.
Entries for the Sanitation & Waste Management Company of the Year should answer the following questions in a total of no more than 500 words:

  • What has the company done to deliver exceptional HSE performance?

The award for Security Company of the Year will go to a company that has excelled in providing or arranging security services for a significant project and/or contract.
The overall solution/service provided will be in response to a specific need/requirement, showcasing innovation and a strong sense of bottom-line deliverable.
Entries for the Security Company of the Year should answer the following questions in a total of no more than 500 words:
  • How has the company demonstrated its security services?
  • How has the company contributed to the success of its security projects?
  • What has the company done to manage its own professional development?
  • How has the security company shown its commitment to the improvement of the regional FM industry?
Entries for the Software Solutions Company of the Year category should support their nomination with no more than 500 words and include the following information:
  • Name of the company, workforce, headquarters
  • Financial results for the previous two years or nearest estimates
  • Demonstrate ways in which the company has grown in the past year in terms of revenue, profit, opening new offices, expanding its service offering
  • Demonstrate how your software has helped and assisted your clients
The award for FM Consultancy of the Year will go to a consultancy that can demonstrate the best record of delivering innovative, original and consistent expertise on projects. The consultancy will have a good standing in the industry, and be known for its commitment to value addition and innovation, thereby playing a vital role In the overall development and bench marking of the industry against the highest international professional standards. Entries for the FM Consultancy of the Year should answer the following questions in a total of no more than 500 words:
  • How has the consultancy demonstrated its ability to enhance projects?
  • How has the consultancy contributed to its clients’ success?
  • What has the consultancy done to deliver innovation?
  • What has the consultancy done to manage the professional development of its staff?
  • How does the consultancy demonstrate commercial strength and growth?
  • How has the consultancy shown its commitment to the improvement of the regional FM industry?
The award for Young Facilities Manager of the Year will go to the person that has made an important contribution to the FM industry.
Open to facilities managers aged 35 and under who have added value and actively contributed to a successful facilities management operation in any sector over the past 12 months.
Evidence needed: Proof of age and evidence detailing the contribution(s) made to the company during the last 12 months.
Entries for the Young Facilities Manager of the Year should answer the following questions in a total of no more than 500 words:
  • How has the young facilities manager added value and actively contributed to a successful facilities management operation?
  • How has the young facilities manager contributed to the development of the company’s employees?
  • How has the young facilities manager contributed to the company’s reputation?
The award for FM Executive of the Year will go to the senior executive of a leading FM company who can demonstrate the greatest impact on his/ her FM-related business in the last 12 months.
Entries for the FM Executive of the Year should answer the following questions in a total of no more than 500 words:
  • How has the executive demonstrated his/her leadership ability?
  • How has the executive contributed to his/her company’s financial success?
  • What has the executive done to boost operational performance?
  • What has the executive done to manage their own professional development?
  • How has the executive shown their commitment to the improvement of the regional FM industry?
The award for Facilities Manager of the Year will go to the person that has made an important contribution to the FM industry.
Entries for the Facilities Manager of the Year should answer the following questions in a total of no more than 500 words:
  • How has the facilities manager contributed to its surrounding environment or community?
  • How has the facilities manager demonstrated FM best practice?
  • Has the facilities manager delivered a project within time and budget parameters? Explain.
  • What safety initiatives has a facilities manager put in place on a project and how effective were they
  • What aspects of the facilities manager make them interesting or significant for the region?
The award for Visionary Leader of the Year will go to the individual who can demonstrate delivering outstanding results at his or her organisation during the previous 12 months.
Entrants for the Visionary Leader of the Year category should support their nomination by providing the following information in no more than 500 words:
  • Name of the person, his full job title, job duration with the company
  • Evidence of the company’s growth and financial success during his/her tenure
  • Details of contracts won and projects delivered during the period
  • Evidence of the executive’s contribution to this success
  • Evidence of helping the organisation to evolve and develop
  • Clear evidence of innovation during the period
The award for overall FM Company of the Year will go to the company that can demonstrate how it has had the greatest impact on the FM-related business. The winning company is well-respected, with a solid reputation among customers and the industry as a whole. Its all-round performance in the FM industry over the past year, as exhibited by in its ongoing involvement in flagship contracts and/or projects, will have built on a track record characterized by service excellence, delivery and innovation.
Entries for the Overall FM Company of the Year should answer the following questions in a total of no more than 500 words:
  • How has the company demonstrated its leadership ability?
  • How has the company contributed to its financial success?
  • What has the company done to boost operational performance?
  • What has the company done to manage professional development?
  • How has the company shown its commitment to the improvement of the regional FM industry?
  • What is the CSR initiative, and how has the initiative contributed to the welfare of the wider community?
Entries for the Manpower Service Provider of the Year should answer the following questions in a total of no more than 500 words:
