The Awards

Construction innovation awards KSA 2020 is one of the leading events applauding the achievements of the region’s construction professionals. The awards strive to recognise individual excellence, corporate strengths, and project success. Companies are invited to nominate the people, projects, and initiatives of which they are most proud of, across 21 categories. Entries will be judged by an eminent jury of industry experts.

The awards presentation will happen at a gala dinner in a five-star venue – a celebration which has proven to be a great social occasion and essential networking opportunity. Winners will receive a commemorative trophy, plus extensive print and online coverage of their success in Construction Business News ME. Company Awards

This award category recognises the outstanding main contractor active in the regional construction sector in the 12 months to the end of December 2019. Judges will be looking for an exemplary track record of delivering a number of high-quality projects to clients on time and on budget during this period and to the highest standards of safety.
Entries for the Contractor of the Year category should support their nomination with no more than 1,000 words and include the following information:
  • Name of the company, workforce, headquarters
  • Financial results for the previous two years or nearest estimates
  • Demonstrate ways in which the company has grown in the past year in terms of revenue, profit, opening new offices, expanding its service offering
  • Details of all new contracts won during this period
  • Details of projects completed during the period
  • Evidence of delivering projects on time and to budget
  • Evidence of an impeccable safety record
  • Details of any CSR and Sustainability initiatives
The award will go to the outstanding MEP contractor operating in the regional construction market in the 12 months to the end of December 2019.Judges will be looking for an exemplary track record of delivering a number of outstanding MEP projects to clients on time and on budget during this period and to the highest standards of quality and safety.
Entries for the MEP Contractor of the Year category should support their nomination with no more than 1,000 words and include the following information:
  • Name of the company, workforce, headquarters
  • Financial results for the previous two years or nearest estimates
  • Demonstrate ways in which the company has grown in the past year in terms of revenue, profit, opening new offices, expanding its service offering
  • Details of all new contracts won during this period

Contenders for the Consultant of the Year award will need to demonstrate a strong track record of delivering a number of exceptional projects in the 12 months to the end of December 2019. Judges will award extra merit for evidence of innovation and successful delivery of complex, ambitious projects. All types of construction consultancy companies (quantity surveyors, cost consultants, engineering consultants, project management consultants, etc) are qualified to nominate.
Entries for the Consultant of the Year category should support their nomination with no more than 1,000 words and include the following information:
  • Name of the company, workforce, headquarters
  • Financial results for the previous two years or nearest estimates
  • Demonstrate ways in which the company has grown in the past year in terms of revenue, profit, opening new offices, expanding its service offering
  • Details of all new contracts won during this period

This category recognises the outstanding property developer active in the regional market in the 12-month period to the end of December 2019. Judges will be looking for an exemplary track record of delivering a range of outstanding projects on time during this period and to the highest standards. Preference will be given to entrants that provide evidence of innovation, complexity, productivity, and quality.
Entries for the Real Estate Developer of the Year category should support their nomination with no more than 1,000 words and include the following information:
  • Name of the company, workforce, headquarters
  • Financial results for the previous two years or nearest estimates
  • Demonstrate ways in which the company has grown in the past year in terms of revenue, profit, opening new offices, expanding its service offering
  • Details of all new projects launched during this period
  • Details of projects completed during the period

  • Details of any CSR and Sustainability initiatives
The award for the Facilities Management (FM) Company of the Year will go to the outstanding performer in region’s FM sector in the 12 months to the end of December 2019. Judges will be looking for strong evidence of growth and expansion during the period, delivery of quality service, innovation, and use of new technology.
Entries for the FM Company of the Year award category should support their nomination with no more than 1,000 words and include the following information:
  • Name of the company, workforce, headquarters
  • Financial results for the previous two years or nearest estimates
  • Demonstrate ways in which the company has grown in the past year in terms of revenue, profit, workforce, opening new offices, expanding service offering, etc

  • Details of any CSR and Sustainability initiatives
Contenders for the Health and Safety (HSE) Initiative of the Year award will need to provide details of an initiative successfully executed in the GCC in the 12 months to the end of December 2019. The category is open to all companies operating within the construction sector in the region. Special merit will be awarded to companies that can demonstrate the initiative has had a wider impact on the industry.
Entries for the HSE Initiative of the Year award should support their nominations by providing the following information in no more than 1,000 words:
  • Details of the HSE initiative and why it was introduced
  • How staff have been trained in the new safety initiative
  • Explain how the initiative has delivered results and how success was measured
  • Explain how the innovation has changed the safety culture at the company
The award will go to the outstanding Sub-contractor operating in the regional construction market in the 12 months to the end of December 2019. Judges will be looking for an exemplary track record of delivering a number of outstanding projects to clients on time and on budget during this period and to the highest standards of quality and safety.

  • What is the value of the assets you manage, give a rough break down (residential/commercial)?

Project Awards

The Commercial Project of the Year Award will be awarded to the office project that makes an important contribution to its surroundings, demonstrates construction best practice, and can show how construction techniques and technology have contributed to its success within 12 months till December 2019.
Entries for the Commercial Project of the Year should support their nominations by providing the following information in no more than 1,000 words:

Judges are looking for an project that has developed and applied the most innovative approach to overcoming one or more construction challenges. Winners may have developed a demonstrably new and different technique or process or may have harnessed emerging or existing technologies to create new or improved products, tools or services leading to better built outcomes.

Individual Awards

The Project Manager of the Year award will go to the individual who can demonstrate supreme project management skills on major and complex projects over the past 12 months till December 2019.
Entries for the Project Manager of the Year should support their nomination by providing the following information in no more than 1,000 words:
  • Name of the person, his full job title, job duration with the company
  • Details of project/s worked on during the period for the company
  • Evidence of strong organisational ability during the period
  • Evidence of managing complexity and overcoming challenges during the process
  • Evidence of using innovation (new technology or techniques) in the delivery of the project
  • Evidence of overall successful delivery of a project or projects
The award for Engineer of the Year will go to the engineer who can demonstrate the greatest impact on his or her organisation during the previous 12 months. The category is open to any engineer working at any company operating within the GCC construction sector during the period.
Entries for the Engineer of the Year should support their nomination by providing the following information in no more than 1,000 words:
  • Name of the person, his full job title, job duration with the company
  • Details of projects worked on during the period
  • Evidence of using technical ability and using innovative techniques
  • Evidence of going the extra mile to achieve results
  • Evidence of taking responsibility for personal development
  • Evidence of contributing to the success of their company
The award for Construction Executive of the Year will go to the executive who can demonstrate delivering outstanding results at his or her organisation during the previous 12 months. The category is open to CEOs and other senior executives working at any company operating within the GCC construction sector during the period.
Entrants for the Construction Executive of the Year> category should support their nomination by providing the following information in no more than 1,000 words:
  • Name of the person, his full job title, job duration with the company
  • Evidence of the company’s growth and financial success during his/her tenure
  • Details of contracts won and projects delivered during the period
  • Evidence of the executive’s contribution to this success
  • Evidence of helping the organisation to evolve and develop
  • Clear evidence of innovation during the period
This award will go to an individual that has made an outstanding contribution to the construction and real estate sector in the region during his/her career. This award will be chosen by a panel of judges.
