JLG gets nominated for three IAPA awards

Manufacturers of mobile elevating working platforms and telehandlers, JLG Industries, has been shortlisted for three IAPA awards that are scheduled to be held in London on 18 March 2021.

Mobile control in the Innovative Technology category and for the DSP-M, a stock picker and the EC Booms, a battery-operated construction boom lift. Both nominations fall under the ‘Product of the Year’ category.

Innovative Technology – Mobile Control:
The benefit of this technology is that operators have a better overview of the jobsite while moving equipment which helps improve safety and reduce potential damage to the working environment. Unlike a remote frequency control box, there is no need to remove the control box from the platform. Simply scan the QR code next to the control panel, pair the smart phone with the product and follow the instruction on the screen.

JLG introduced a mobile control app on its R-Series of scissors. The app allows operators to control equipment remotely, pairing any smart phone with the scissor via a QR code and Bluetooth.

Product of the Year – Stock pickers:
JLG introduced the DSP-M – a brand new stock picker with an unusual design. With a working height of 6.55m and a combined operator platform and material tray platform of 220kgs a game changer in stock picking.

With the consumer influx in home shopping, storage requests (winter/summer tyres), retail decoration and shelve stocking, large warehouses – there is a need for a stockpicker to service these environments.

JLG launched this remarkably designed new series of stock pickers (the DSP-S and DSP-L were added to the range this year) with an innovative low maintenance mast design and ergonomically friendly operator platform designed to allow for a high level of configuration to meet industry requirements. With the introduction of this first in a series, non-conventionally looking stock picker; JLG can meet this demand.

“The new DSP series offer a low step in height, unobstructed access to the picking platform, ergonomic controls, and a sense of stability, delivering on customer expectations for operator comfort”, says Barrie Lindsay, JLG’s Director of Engineering in EMEAIR and responsible for the development of the DSP Series.

“The uncompromising benefits such as reliability, quality and low maintenance of this French engineered and manufactured family of stock pickers have remained.”

Product of the Year – Emission-free EC Booms:
Powered by safe, quick-charging lithium-ion batteries and two electric motors, JLG EC booms deliver clean operation and greater energy efficiency on any job site. Experience uncompromising performance with the flexibility to work inside or out with a single machine.

“The increasing availability of high-quality cost-effective electric drive components has enabled the development of Zero emissions rough terrain booms”, comments Barrie Lindsay, JLG’s Director of Engineering in the EMEAIR region and responsible for the development of the EC Booms.

“The time is right to match technology and machine development with the changing application needs of customers. During the design stage, it was imperative there should be no performance reduction in uptime, duty cycles or terrain ability.”
