Dubai will host the 7th International Conference for Sustainable Construction Materials under the slogan, “Artificial Intelligence in Construction for a Sustainable Future.” The annual conference will be organized by Dubai Municipality on 4th and 5th November at the Intercontinental Festival City with the presence of a large number of researchers, professionals and specialists in this vital area to support fundamentals of sustainability and to enhance Dubai’s position as a market leader in the construction sector as Dubai Municipality has always taken the lead in this area through its projects, legislation and strategic plans.
This year, the conference will highlight the role of government and private entities in the development and improvement of sustainable construction materials products and quality control methods, with the participation of research and scientific institutions at the local and international levels, in order to see the latest findings of studies in the development of the performance of materials and products and construction systems.
In its seventh edition, the conference will showcase creative and innovative applications in the use of green construction systems, as well as Artificial Intelligence technologies in the quality of construction materials and products sector, through the presentation of innovative models of sustainable and environmentally friendly products and constructions. It will also exhibit other models for the use of Artificial Intelligence technologies to ensure the quality of construction materials and products, with the participation of the construction sector in the UAE and the world’s leading companies in the field of the sustainability of construction materials applications.
Khalid Sharif Al Awadhi, CEO, Health, Safety and Environment Sector at Dubai Municipality, said that the conference will witness the participation of many engineers, scientists and specialists from different countries of the world. “They include speakers of the upcoming World Expo Dubai 2020, and representatives of the pavilions of three countries participating in Expo 2020 namely Brazil, the Netherlands and the Philippines. Each of them represents a continent of the world, to showcase models of sustainability in their respective pavilions,” he said.
Al Awadhi pointed out that the organization of this landmark conference comes from the global vision and mission of Dubai Municipality and its belief in the importance of enhancing the exchange of technical knowledge, and keenness to employ ways to communicate with various categories of engineers and manufacturers, which contributes to the Municipality’s significant role in establishing Dubai’s strategic position as a leading global destination for construction materials and environmentally friendly construction products manufacturing sector.
Eng. Amin Ahmed Amin, Director of Dubai Central Laboratory Department at Dubai Municipality, said that the conference has evolved over the years since the Municipality began organizing it in 2012 and has expanded from the local level to the Gulf, Arab and regional levels to reach the international level.
“This year we aim to attract more than 350 scientists, researchers and participants from different countries of the world, as well as business owners, engineering and consultancy offices and major construction companies, in addition to industry leaders and representatives of manufacturers in the field of construction, in order to see what is new in the sustainable construction materials industry globally and to know the latest developments, challenges and opportunities in this vital sector,” he pointed out.
Amin added that the conference will also discuss a number of important topics, including ways to ensure the quality of green construction materials and products.
“During the special session on the latest regional and global trends in sustainable construction materials, the Dubai Central Laboratory will present the results of the “Sustainable House” study on the building’s external thermal insulation cladding system. Many international companies are presenting papers on the results of their development study on sustainable construction products, in addition to holding a session on the “Future of Artificial Intelligence Applications in the Construction Sector”. The universities and scientific and research institutions will present the latest findings of modern science in this field,” he said.
The second day of the conference will also include a visit to the Expo 2020 site, in addition to organizing several workshops, including a workshop on applied studies and research on sustainable construction materials, and another workshop on sustainability in construction materials and applications of Artificial Intelligence in the preparation of samples and conducting tests, to be presented by engineers working in Dubai Central Laboratory.
