Murdoch University Inaugurates State-of-the-Art Campus in Dubai Knowledge Park

Dubai Knowledge Park, home to international academic institutes, vocational training and human resources centres, has welcomed Murdoch University’s expansion to the community, following the launch of its state-of-the-art campus to develop future-ready graduates.

The Australian institute’s 27,000 sq ft campus is twice as large as its former one and features world-class facilities including a dedicated cybersecurity lab with custom-built systems and education-focused furniture and interiors to promote a collaborative teaching and learning environment.

In line with Dubai Knowledge Park’s mission to contribute to the UAE’s knowledge-based, innovation-driven economy, Murdoch University Dubai will offer students access to future-forward modules such as crime prevention, human cognition and behaviour and global marketing. As one of the Top 100 Young Universities in the World, Murdoch University embeds mandatory Career Learning units within each course to support its core focus of preparing job-ready, future-proof students.

Mohammad Abdullah, Managing Director of Dubai Knowledge Park and Dubai International Academic City, said: “We’re pleased to see Murdoch University launch its brand-new campus in our community which further consolidates Dubai’s position as a destination of choice for world-class academic initiations. As a strong supporter of homegrown talent, this partnership will offer students an accredited education with the opportunity to study in Australia and Singapore and bring this knowledge and expertise back to the UAE.”

“Students here will have access to a vibrant campus situated within the heart of innovative business-focused communities such as Dubai Internet City and Dubai Media City. They are home to some of the world’s largest Fortune 500 companies as well as plenty of innovative startups and students will be surrounded by leading organisations transforming entire industries. There are few places that provide such as a stimulating environment to develop new skills, knowledge and creativity.”

Dr James Trotter, Dean and Academic President, Murdoch University Dubai, said: “Murdoch University Dubai is at the forefront of providing a high-quality, career-ready Australian education to students in the UAE and we continue to do so on our Digital Campus and at our new home in Dubai Knowledge Park from September 2020 onwards.”

He added: “Our students cite the high quality of teaching as the hallmark of a Murdoch education. KHDA independently verified this in the 2019-20 Higher Education Classification survey of our students where we received a 91.1% satisfaction rate for teaching and learning, a satisfaction rate that is well above the industry benchmark.”

Designed by Woods Bagot, and constructed by KPS, the campus maximises natural light and boasts a spacious reception area; a large library with quiet study zones; a dedicated student breakout space; state-of-the-art classrooms; ‘touchdown zones’ and creativity-boosting spaces for informal collaboration; and two large octagonal lecture theatres.

Murdoch University offers internationally recognised foundation, diploma, undergraduate and postgraduate degrees across Business, IT, Communications, Psychology, Education and Health. Double majors are unique to Murdoch and are available for all undergraduate courses, generally at no additional cost or time. It’s also the only university in the UAE to be an Amazon Web Services Academy member institution and has achieved a five-star employability rating from the Knowledge and Human Development Authority’s Higher Education Classification Summary Report.

The original Dubai campus was launched over a decade ago in Dubai International Academic City and Murdoch University’s expansion to Dubai Knowledge Park has doubled the size of its former site. It joins an impressive roster of world-renowned institutions including the, Abu Dhabi University, Hult International Business School, Middlesex University, Hariot-Watt University, University of Wollongong, Manchester Business School, and the University of Exeter.
