Dubai Ruler unveils MGM mega beach resort plans

Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has officially launched a new beach front mega resort in Jumeirah that will include the first MGM branded resorts in the Middle East.

As we reported yesterday, wasl Hospitality and Leisure, a subsidiary of wasl Asset Management Group, has signed a deal with the famous Las Vegas-based hotel group to bring its iconic brands to the UAE including a Bellagio hotel.

Although the exact location of the futuristic resort has not been specified, it will occupy a prime spot off the Jumeirah coast close to the Burj Al Arab, according to a statement on the Dubai Media Office.

MGM Hospitality will advise on the development of the project and operate the resort when completed. It will contain 2 million square feet of built-up space, including an MGM Hotel, MGM-branded residences and a Bellagio-branded hotel containing a total of 1,000 rooms and 10 villas.

There will also be a 500,000-sq-ft theatre, a range of restaurants, museums, a major beach club and adventure zones for both adults and children.
