DMT, MODON delivers 5 mosques to General Authority for Islamic Affairs and Endowments


As part of its efforts to provide community facilities and construct 20 mosques across the Emirate of Abu Dhabi this year, the Department of Municipalities and Transport announced that it has delivered the first 5 mosques in Abu Dhabi City, in cooperation with MODON, to the General Authority for Islamic Affairs and Endowments, in conjunction with the arrival of the Holy Month of Ramadan.

A plan has been approved to build 20 mosques across Abu Dhabi, with 10 in Abu Dhabi City, 5 in Al Ain City, and 5 in the Al Dhafra Region, to be delivered before the end of 2020.

The Department said that a plan to build 20 mosques across Abu Dhabi, with 10 in Abu Dhabi City, 5 in Al Ain City, and 5 in the Al Dhafrah Region, to be handed over before the end of this year while the remaining 15 mosques will be completed and delivered before the end of 2020. These include five additional mosques in Abu Dhabi, five in Al Ain, and five in Al Dhafra.

His Excellency Hamad Al-Mutawa, Executive Director of Operations Affairs Sector in the Department of Municipalities and Transport said: “We are keen to implement the vision of our wise leadership in developing a complete sustainability community that reflect our values and culture, and contribute to provide all the needs of society, in line with our strategic priorities aimed at building integrated urban complexes in which all are available.

The constituents that meet the aspirations of the community members, as the completion of these five mosques comes within a comprehensive plan developed by the department through which it aims to build 20 mosques throughout the Emirate of Abu Dhabi during the current year, in cooperation with the MUDON Real Estate Company.

His Excellency stressed that constructing community facilities in the emirate, including mosques, is part of the department’s strategic plan to enhance the infrastructure in Abu Dhabi especially in high growth areas, in a manner that aligns with Abu Dhabi government vision to promote sustainability while constructing modern infrastructure projects and community facilities to highest international standards. This also includes creating an ideal ground that contributes to stimulating demographic and economic growth, providing essential community facilities that meet the requirements of the citizen, and serve residential areas in Abu Dhabi.

“MODON Properties” said the total capacity of the five mosques established in Riyadh City in Abu Dhabi exceeds 2,500 persons, and by 400 to 500 persons for each mosque. Construction works were completed in a record time not exceeding four months and within the specified timelines, despite the challenges resulting from the precautionary measures taken to fight the spread of Coronavirus.

The General Authority for Islamic Affairs and Endowments will manage and providing the necessary human resources and their supplies, in each of the following basins 15RD, 24 RD, 28 RD, 30 RD and 32 RD within the project.

The five mosques are distinguished by their distinctive heritage designs that are in line with the standards of the General Authority for Islamic Affairs and Endowments. Also, it include a women’s prayer room, a muezzin room, an imam’s room and internal and external ablution facilities, in order to ensure that all necessary supplies are provided in accordance with the highest quality standards.

The locations of the mosques were determined prior to the start of the construction works in cooperation with the General Authority of Islamic Affairs and Endowments based on the distribution of the population percentage, with future expansion plans, where two mosques are located on an area of 487 square meters, and two others on an area of 609 square meters, while the area of the fifth mosque is 593 Sq.m.
