Building materials prices drop in May

Construction costs could be on the way down with the average price of 16 different building materials showing a decline last month.

The monthly Building Materials Price Statistics issued by the Statistics Centre- Abu Dhabi showed that prices had fallen compared to April as well as against May 2016.

Average prices of glass rose by 7.8 percent , dyes by 5.5 percent and insulation materials by 3 percent during May as compared to April.

Natural stone (5.4 percent), false ceiling (3.1 percent), and wires- apartment (2 percent) also saw a drop in May compared to April.

Diesel prices increased in price by 23.1 percent and electric cables jumped by 9.4 percent during May 2017 over the same period last year.

Average prices of iron fell by 10.6 percent and wood declined by 9.5 percent during May compared to May 2016.
